Thank You Notes (PDF)

“When my 6 year old son returned from surgery, the nurses gave him a Jared Box and his spirits soared! He was thrilled and excited to find all the goodies inside. He couldn’t believe they were actually for him. Needless to say, this gift made his stay easier, made him feel special and kept his mind occupied with fun thoughts, instead of the reason he was in the hospital. You are doing such a good deed. You make boys and girls happy every single day!”

“You have no idea how you touched those who receive your box. My son, Ryan, is 5 and was scared to death to be in the hospital. His Jared Box was the bright spot for him. He played with it the entire time. What a wonderful tribute to your friend Jared. I am sure he has a big smile on his face too.”

“There is no amount of gratitude I could express. My 7 year old son was in the hospital, scared and terrified of having to stay. He put up quite a fuss until he received his Jared Box. I am constantly telling him he is “Mommy’s brave little boy.” After I read him the note in the box that explained the project, he said, “I am brave and so is Jared.” Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I could never express the joy I feel as he shows off his Jared Box.”

“We continue to be overwhelmed by your generosity and in awe of these incredible Jared Boxes. Not only are they filled to the brim with lots of cherished items and fun activities, but it is also evident each box is filled with love and special understanding of how much hospitalization affects children. As you know, play is a daily must for every child. Play in the hospital helps children better cope with traumatic situations because it is a natural activity in an unnatural and often scary environment. Therefore, the Jared Boxes are like having some ‘home away from home’ in an awesome box, just for them, that they can pull out and play with whenever they want. It doesn’t get any better than this!” – Child Life, Allegheny General Hospital

“My daughter was so thrilled with her Jared Box. You are a terrific group of people. To take the courage of your friend Jared and turn it into this wonderful project, you have our admiration and sincere thanks.”

“My son Eli loves his Jared Box. It means a lot to him to have a box that belongs to him, in a place where he has no control or say over what happens. The joy you give him daily is priceless. Thank you and God Bless.”

“This box was like a drink of cold water to a person in the desert. By comforting my baby, I was also comforted. My baby received a Jared Box after she was rushed to the hospital. As we were waiting to hear what her condition might be, a nurse brought Emma a Jared Box. The toys in the box were the perfect diversion…it was the most positive thing in her day.”

“My 5 year old son received a Jared Box. We were at the hospital for 7 hours, and your gift helped him keep busy during a 3 hour intravenous infusion. It also kept him content during the long trip home. His favorite thing in the box was the silly putty. I showed him how to roll it into a ball and bounce it real high. We now keep the box in the car so that he has something to do during his trips to the hospital…which we take very often.”

“I can’t tell you how happy my daughter was to receive such a gift as her Jared Box. My daughter had fears about the hospital. After getting the box, she became more happy and at ease with the hospital environment. She kept telling me how happy she was to get a gift from somebody that she didn’t even know. I wish to tell you that your act of kindness has touched us in no small way!”

“My son received a Jared Box as he was treated for a relapse of leukemia. I think it is wonderful that God has so many helpers eager to bring some cheer to these children during challenging moments. We are grateful for every smile you provide.”

“Before her surgery, Emma, age 4, was really scared. Emma’s eyes lit up when the nurse gave her a Jared Box. She played with the stickers and her nurses put the Chap Stick on her so she would be “pretty for surgery.” When she woke up, the first thing she asked for was her Jared Box. Now that we are home, she walks around with it all day. If you ask her, she calls it her special box. Thank you for helping her (and me) get through a very difficult time.
